About Us
Flow-Technics, Inc. is a second-generation family owned and operated company that sells engineered products to the water and wastewater markets. John Carney founded the company on June 1, 1988 as a manufacturer's representative and distributor servicing the Municipal Water and Wastewater markets. John's reputation for providing quality products and service is known throughout the Illinois and Northern Indiana markets. His son Mike joined him in 1991, and his son Pat joined him 1993. John has since retired, and his sons are now managing the company.
Sales Department
John Carney (Founder/Retired) began his career in 1961 at Aurora Pump, North Aurora, IL as an Application Engineer and then as an Outside Engineer. John joined Thomas Pump Company in 1965 as a Sales Engineer and remained there until 1970. Stannard Power Equipment Co. recruited John as Sales Engineer in 1970 covering Northern Indiana and Central Illinois. John served in various capacities at Stannard including Vice President and Director of the Service Department, Power Techniques (a manufacturing division) and the Municipal Sales Group. In 1983 John became Vice President and served in this capacity until 1988. John started Flow-Technics on June 1, 1988 as a manufacturer's representative and distributor covering the Municipal Water & Wastewater markets.
John attended Illinois Benedictine College and Illinois Institute of Technology majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Mike Carney (Sales Engineer) entered the world of computers upon graduating from Loyola University and was employed by Standard Manifold as an inside sales representative. In 1987 he joined Pioneer Electronics, a distributor of DEC Computers, as an account manager. In 1991 Mike joined Flow-Technics as a Sales Engineer. He is responsible for covering the consultants and municipalities in Western and Northern suburbs of Chicago and most of Northern Illinois.
Mike received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from Loyola University, Chicago, IL in 1985.
Pat Carney (Sales Electrical Engineer) started his career in 1985 at MPC Products in Skokie, IL, a leading manufacturer of electro-mechanical actuation systems for the Aerospace Industry. He held the position of Sales Engineer for six years and then spent two years as a Product Manager in the New Product Development Group. Pat joined Flow-Technics in 1993 as Sales Electrical Engineer covering consulting engineers in the City of Chicago and Cook County as well as the Municipal Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
Pat received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI in 1985.
Jerry Gouker (Sales Engineer) joined Flow-Technics in October of 2005 as an Outside Sales Engineer covering the Northern Indiana Territory. Jerry was previously the Superintendent of Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment for the Town of Hamlet, Indiana and holds a Water and Wastewater Operator License for the State of Indiana. Jerry held the position of sales coordinator for a large mechanical electrical service company responsible for obtaining new customers, and overseeing jobs and progress to ensure customer satisfaction during and after the technical services were provided. His duties included estimating projects for bids, project management, and start-up assistance for the entire phase of the project. Jerry brings a wealth of hands on experience and is the past President of the Northern Indiana Operators Association.
Service Department
Rick Sheehy joined Flow-Technics in 1990 as Service Manager. Rick came to us from Stannard Power Equipment Company where he served as a Field Service Technician. Rick has attended training school and received certifications from ABS Pumps, ITT A-C Pump (Allis-Chalmers), Lamson Blowers, Eastech Badger, Floway and Flomatcher Variable Speed Controls. Rick is certified in IRD Mechanalysis after completing Vibration Technology I and Advance Vibration Analysis courses. In addition Rick has completed an OSHA approved course on Permitted Confined Space Entry.
Mike Wayman joined Flow-Technics in August, 1997 as a Field Service Technician. He brings with him 20 years experience in the electrical field having started his career working for U.S. Steel from 1976 to 1986 as Electrician / Motor Inspector. Mike worked from 1986 to 1991 with Bomarko as a Maintenance Electrician; and from 1991 to 1997 with NIPSCO in their Electrical Substation Construction and Maintenance Group. Mike has received certificates for Confined Space Training; Motors, Generators, Breakers and Transformers; Eaton Dynamic Variable Speed Drives and Controls; Motor Inspector; Installation of Microwave Radio Equipment Fiber Optic Relay Systems; Cable Splicing and Terminating ; Installation and Troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives and Eddy Current Drives; and ABS Pumps, Eastech Badger and ITT A-C Pump (Allis-Chalmers).
Keith Lindahl joined Flow-Technics in March, 2001 as a Service Technician. Keith has 14 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Posen-Robbins School District. Keith was responsible for 6 schools servicing the heaters, boilers, plumbing and electrical systems. He also worked for U.S. Steel for 3 years.
Laura Ores is our Parts Coordinator. She joined Flow-Technics in August of 2005. She came to us from Roseland Metal Products, Inc., a local manufacturer, where she acquired 16 years of experience as a Customer Service Representative. Her goal at Flow-Technics is for pumping equipment to become second nature so that she will be able to provide our customers with excellent service and quotes in a timely manner. Laura’s duties will also involve scheduling the service personnel on the various duties they perform.
